Pool makes a splash with free entry

SWIMMERS will get free entry to the newly revamped Glenogle Baths on the first day of it being reopened to the public.

The historic pool will open on Friday after a two-year 5.7 million renovation.

A Victorian-themed formal opening event is to be held for invited guests tomorrow before the public are given the chance to see the facilities for free on Friday.

The reopening of the pool will come within a fortnight of Warrender Swim Centre opening after a six-month closure to repair its roof. The Thirlestane Road pool shut in November when a panel of glass fell from the roof and left a swimmer with an injured arm.

Councillor Deidre Brock, the city's culture and leisure leader, said: "Swim fans are in for a sensational summer, with two of our finest Victorian pools coming back into use just in time for the holidays.

"Warrender is already bustling again having reopened to the public on 21 June and Glenogle is looking truly beautiful after its major refurbishment."

The refurbishment included upgraded changing rooms, toilets and lockers, improved accessibility, a new sauna and steam room area and refitted gym.
