Young graduate lands job as Salmond’s spin doctor

FIRST Minister Alex Salmond has drafted a young graduate into a top spin doctor post.

Delancy Johansson, who only finished studying international affairs at University of Edinburgh in 2009, will join Mr Salmond’s team of special advisers.

The former head girl at St Margaret’s Academy in Livingston, will have exclusive access to ministers and will advise them on finance, employment and sustainable growth.

In previous years special advisers on the lowest pay grade have earned between £39,000 and £53,000.

Miss Johansson speaks near-fluent Norwegian, good French and Spanish and has been recently learning Arabic.

Her online biography reveals that she has lived in several countries.

She showed an early interest in politics as vice-convenor of foreign affairs at the Scottish Youth Parliament and says her interests are running and cross-country skiing.
