The Scottish Government has already published its own 670-page white paper on independence at a cost of £1.25 million to taxpayers.

Scottish Secretary Alistair Carmichael launched the UK Government booklet which covers the economy, making public services more affordable and Scotland’s voice in the world.

“We want to give everyone in Scotland every opportunity to make an informed decision in September. That is why we are providing everyone with clear and simple facts,” Mr Carmichael said.

“This is a once in a lifetime, irreversible decision so people need to be sure about the choice they make in September. This booklet presents the facts and will help make the arguments clearer.”
