Three of Scotland’s leading business and academic figures will give evidence before MSPs following a series of interviews in The Scotsman setting out their vision for reviving the country’s stagnant economy.

Scottish Enterprise chief Lena Wilson, Professor Jim McDonald, the principal of Strathclyde University, and Philip Grant, the new head of Lloyds Banking Group in Scotland, said a highly educated workforce exploiting emerging international markets would lie at the heart of Scotland’s recovery.

MSPs on the finance committee will now take evidence on sustainable recovery from the trio this week in light of the interviews carried out by political editor Eddie Barnes.

The series in April began with Dr Wilson highlighting the waste of talent in the economy and of the need to show firms they need fresh talent to grow.
