STV News chief quits following investigation into alleged 'inappropriate behaviour'

The head of news at STV has resigned from his role at the company for ‘mental health reasons’, a spokesman has confirmed.

Steven Ladurantaye has been helping run the STV’s newsroom in Glasgow for about two years, has left for reasons surrounding his ‘mental health’.

However the news comes after revelations in The Times that he has quit following investigation into alleged 'inappropriate behaviour'.

A spokesman for the company said: "We take complaints about inappropriate conduct at STV extremely seriously. We will always investigate fully, while respecting the duty of care we owe to all parties involved.”

“Steven Ladurantaye has resigned as STV’s Head of News and Current Affairs for medical reasons around mental health, for which he is receiving treatment.

"Deputy Head of News, Linda Grimes, will oversee STV’s news and current affairs operation."

Ladurantaye, from Canada originally, joined STV from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in October 2018.

Before CBC, Ladurantaye was global chair of news at Twitter where he worked with news organisations to incorporate the social media platform into their digital strategies.
