Scottish independence is mad - comedian Session

SCOTS actor and comedian John Sessions has branded the prospect of independence “mad.”

The 61-year-old, who is originally from Largs but now lives in Wimbledon, said: “What was his (Alex Salmond’s) latest one? There will be an extra £1,000 for everybody. He has got to be joking. By the time you have changed the letterheads and the department (after independence) Scotland will be in the red from here until eternity. It is just so mad.”

He added: “People died for centuries to get these countries together and this guy turns up.”

Sessions said he is a supporter of Ukip and wants to see the European and Scottish parliaments abolished.

Meanwhile, Taggart star Alex Norton has announced his support for Scottish independence insisting its will be a “once in a lifetime opportunity.” The actor played DCI Matt Burke in the series. Although originally from Glasgow he now lives in London and won’t have a vote.

“Because of career demands, I’ve lived in London since the 70s, so I didn’t have an axe to grind about not having a vote in the referendum, although I felt a growing frustration that I had no say in deciding Scotland’s future,” he said.

“But I do have a voice – and I do have an opinion. I think this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the Scottish people to make things right.”
