Scots-German Europe lecture

A SENIOR German politician with Scottish roots will give a lecture in Edinburgh this week on the future of Europe.

David McAllister is the son of a Scot, the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony and a close ally of Chancellor Angela Merkel.

His lecture will take place at the Royal Society of Edinburgh, George Street, on Wednesday at 6pm and will look at German-British relations, how the two countries have shaped Europe in the last decades and Germany’s position in Europe, including its energy policy.

Professor Charlie Jeffery of Edinburgh University will chair a question and answer session afterwards. Mr McAllister is expected to talk about the future of the Eurozone.
