Parliament chiefs probe fire scare at Holyrood

SCOTTISH Parliament bosses are still investigating what sparked a fire alert and led to an evacuation of the £414 million Holyrood building.

The parliament says there was no fire, but there is not yet any explanation of why the fire alarm was sounded, sending staff and others into the street late yesterday afternoon.

A Scottish Parliament spokeswoman said: "We are still investigating the exact cause of a fire alert which was activated by sensors in the upper basement area. There was no fire in this or any other area of Holyrood."
