MP’s plea for Remploy staff

AN MP has called on the Scottish and UK governments to minimise the effect the closure of Edinburgh’s Remploy factory will have on its 28 staff.

Remploy is to close 36 of its 54 factories, and Ian Murray, Labour MP for Edinburgh South, has written to Iain Duncan Smith, John Swinney and Peter Gabbitas, director of health and social care at the city council, asking for all national and local government agencies to work together.

He said: “I am deeply concerned about the impact the closure of the factory will have on some of the most vulnerable workers in Edinburgh.”
