MP Natalie McGarry in fresh police probe over cash claims

A second police probe has been launched into the Glasgow East MP Natalie McGarry over allegations of financial discrepancies, it has emerged.

Police Scotland last night confirmed it has received a complaint after claims of missing funds from the SNP’s Glasgow regional association where Ms McGarry, who got married at the weekend, was formerly convenor.

Police Scotland said: “We can confirm that police have received a report and inquires are continuing.”

McGarry withdrew from the SNP whip last November after she was linked to an allegation that tens of thousands of pounds in donations may be missing from Women for Independence, the campaign group she helped found. Police Scotland’s inquiries into this allegation remain ongoing. McGarry denies any wrongdoing.
