Julie Watt, 46, said witnesses saw a couple pick up the beloved pooch while she was at a shop across the road.

It is thought they tried her house but got no answer, so drove off with the pup in tow.

She said: “Someone who spoke to the couple who picked her up said they were not from around here and she thought they said they were from Edinburgh.

“We’re just desperate to find her, she’s part of the family.

“We’ve tried all the Lothian and Borders Police – all the dogs homes – you name it we’ve tried it.”

Holly is white with grey ears and has a dark spot on one side of her body.
