History of the Liberal party and its policies

THE current Liberal Party was formed by individuals within the original version opposed to joining the new Liberal Democrats in 1988.

Policies differ between local groups but nationally the party advocates a written constitution, a Bill of Rights and control and abandonment of the UK’s nuclear programme.

It also pledges control of illegal drugs as an alternative to criminalisation.
