Gas probe
welcomed

East Lothian Labour MP Fiona O’Donnell has welcomed an inquiry into the practices of “off-grid” energy suppliers.

The all-party parliamentary group of MPs on off-grid gas is to examine how consumers are disadvantaged compared to mains gas users.

Ms O’Donnell said four million households across the country were not connected to the mains gas grid. She said: “As Ofgem doesn’t have authority to regulate these suppliers, off-grid consumers have less choice and do not enjoy the same protections as those connected to mains gas.”
