A FUND aimed at boosting Scotland’s cities is to get extra cash, Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has announced.

Ms Sturgeon said: “The additional funds will focus on collaborative programmes for sustainable cities that will help move us faster towards low-carbon economy.”

Labour’s Drew Smith described the cash as a “welcome but small fund”.

He said when Labour was in power its Cities Growth Fund provided £173m between 2003 and 2008.

He said: “It is a regret that the government has not taken the opportunity to restore the Cities Growth Fund.”
