The Scottish Affairs Select Committee will meet workers and sub-contractors in Glasgow today and will question Mick Cash, general secretary of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union, in Westminster tomorrow.

Ian Davidson MP, chair of the committee, said: “The collapse of City Link has resulted in redundancies across Scotland and 2,356 jobs lost cross the UK. There are many questions to be answered about the way all this has been handled by the firm’s owners.

“We are meeting with City Link employees and sub-contractors in Glasgow on Monday to hear their views on what has happened and on what should now be done.”

Mr Cash welcomed the development saying it was right the “scandal” should be investigated.

“All of the key players should be called to account for their actions. The whole murky business which led to the carefully planned Christmas collapse of City Link needs to be dragged under the spotlight.”
