East Lothian coalition bid

LABOUR wants to form a coalition with the Tories to run East Lothian council.

Before the election, the SNP and the Liberal Democrats had been in charge of the authority.

Labour is now the largest party with ten elected members. The SNP has nine, the Tories three.

Labour confirmed a proposal to link up with the Conservatives and the one independent.

Tory leader Ludovic Broun-Lindsay said: “We have reached agreement with the Labour Party in East Lothian. As part of that we will receive three senior council posts.”
