'˜Corbyn for PM' concert in Scotland hit by poor ticket sales

The “#JC4PM” tour - aiming to support Jeremy Corbyn as the next Prime Minister - is due to take place at Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre on Wednesday.

Organisers have admitted that they are struggling to even fill the bottom tier of the 2,000-seater venue - because of the dominance of the SNP.

Organiser Crispin Flintoff told Buzzfeed: “It’s to do with the position of the Labour party against the SNP – both parties are progressive and against the Conservatives but it’s a totally different scene to London and Bristol.”

Previous dates on the tour in the two English cities were successful but the slump in Scottish ticket sales has been blamed on dwindling support for Labour party in Scotland.

Guest speakers set to appear at the event include pro-Corbyn Scottish Labour MSP Neil Findlay alongside comedians such as Mark Steel and music from the likes of Charlotte Church.

“The tickets have not sold very well at all, and I can’t really say if people will buy a lot on the night.

“We’re hoping to fill the stalls but it’s a massive theatre. We did this all spontaneously and we didn’t know what the demand would be and we have booked one of the largest theatres in Scotland.

“It’s not going to be full like the others were.”

Tickets for the event, priced at £20 or £50 with a signed poster, are still available.
