Commissioner ‘will be fair’

Scotland’s new Information Commissioner will be effective and fair, MSPs have been told.

Holyrood backed Rosemary Agnew unanimously to succeed Kevin Dunion, who stands down this month.

Ms Agnew, current chief executive of the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission, was chosen from 33 applicants.

Speaking on behalf of the selection panel, MSP Christine Grahame said: “I believe Rosemary Agnew will prove to be an effective and fair commissioner.”

A recommendation will now go to the Queen for the formal appointment of Ms Agnew, who is expected to take up the post in April.
