Budget webchat: John McLaren

This week’s budget hasn’t been the Chancellor’s easiest with criticism intensifying over measures introduced during Wednesday’s speech.

Critics claim that, as a result of the lowering of the tax threshold, around 1.3 million people on relatively modest incomes will be pushed into the highest bracket.

Pensioners have also been vocal in their criticism of the so-called “Granny Tax”, a phrase which has sprung from George Osborne’s changes to age-related personal allowances.

Professor John McLaren from the Centre for Public Policy for Regions will be online on Friday from 12.30pm to discuss the implications of this week’s Budget.
