SOME key international flights from Scotland could be threatened by the Chancellor’s decision to press ahead with a hefty rise in air passenger duty (APD).

The tax will go up a twice the rate of inflation from April next year, a move branded “deeply disappointing and extremely concerning” by Amanda McMillan, managing director of Glasgow Airport.

She said: “Scotland’s ability to compete and to maintain its international connections will suffer as a result of this decision, and I would urge the Chancellor to take heed of our concerns and reconsider the UK government’s approach to APD.”
