Boiler grant plan unveiled

A NEW boiler scrappage scheme designed to cut energy bills and provide a boost to the heating industry was unveiled today.

Housing minister Alex Neil said up to 5,000 homes would receive a 400 grant towards the cost of a new boiler.

The Scottish Government estimates that upgrading to a more efficient boiler will save users 190 on fuel bills every year.

The new scheme is only open to households whose boilers convert less than 70 per cent of fuel into heat.
