Alex Salmond and wife Moira arrive at court as last defence witnesses to take stand

Alex Salmond arrived at court with his wife Moira today for day nine of his trial on 13 sex charges involving nine women.

The remaining defence witnesses are expected to complete their evidence today ahead of concluding speeches.

Mr Salmond denies all the charges against him.The trial heard that a total of 386 statements were taken by police investigating allegations against Alex Salmond.

Detective Chief Lesley Boal, who was in charge of the investigation, gave evidence on Thursday.

Defence counsel Gordon Jackson QC suggested to her it had been a "very extensive" investigation. She replied: "I would say thorough."
