Police send Christmas greetings to fugitives

AROUND 600 people currently being sought on outstanding warrants are set to receive a Christmas card from police urging them to surrender.

Officers in the west of Edinburgh are sending out the reminders, pictured, to people wanted for various offences.

Anyone wishing to settle their warrant is asked to contact a police station before the Christmas holidays begin or risk facing the festive season behind bars.

Inspector Irene Ralston said: “Christmas and New Year period is typically a busy time for police. However, that does not mean we forget about those with outstanding warrants.

“Failure to settle the matter will result in an arrest and court appearance, which is the last thing people want or need at this time of the year.

“We anticipate a large number of people coming forward in the next few days.”
