Police release e-fits of Lasswade robbery suspects

The 26-year-old victim had been walking in Lasswade towards Loanhead when the trio jumped out of a car, grabbed him, assaulted him and stole his belongings.

The incident took place on Wadingburn Road, Lasswade, at around 8.10pm on Saturday, March 7 – but the attackers are still at large.

Police hope that the new e-fit images will help jog the memories of potential witnesses. During the unprovoked attack, the gang shouted several racial comments at the victim, who was left badly shaken.

All three were in a small dark green two-door car with the letters “GM” written in black capital letters on the bodywork, and drove off towards Loanhead after the attack.

The driver is described as being in his mid-50s with short grey hair and a chubby build. He has a full grey beard, a tattoo of an eagle on his forearm with the words “Ride to Live” and he spoke with an English accent.

The second man is white, in his mid-30s, around 5ft 9in tall with a bulky build. He is bald, clean shaven with green eyes and has a few stitches visible on his right eyebrow. He has a roundish face and spoke with an English accent.

A less detailed description has been given for the third man, who is believed to be around 19 and had been wearing a dark top.

Detective Constable Stevie McCormick said: “This robbery has been a terrifying experience for this innocent member of the public and our officers have been making extensive inquiries to find those responsible.

“We would urge anyone who may recognise the men pictured or is able to provide any information that might help our investigations to get in touch immediately.”
