Police probe as woman, 26, is found dead

POLICE are investigating after a 26-year-old woman was found dead in a property in the Calders area of the city.

Officers insist they are keeping an "open mind" as inquiries continue, yet a post-mortem examination provided inconclusive results.

The woman has been named as Marie Irvine.

She was found on Wednesday at 6pm in her flat in Medwin House South.

Lothian and Borders Police are keen to speak with anyone who has been in contact with Ms Irvine recently.

A spokesman said: "We are keeping an open mind in terms of our inquiries and are keen to hear from anyone who has spoken to Marie over the past week or so.

"Marie had the type of lifestyle where drugs were a common feature. However, we are keeping an open mind and we want to speak to anyone who can help us build a clearer picture of her recent personal circumstances."
