Police probe sexual assault in Dundee park

Police have confirmed an investigation into a serious sexual assault of a woman that took place in Brought Ferry, Dundee over the weekend.

Speculation mounted yesterday after police were seen cordoning off a section of Orchar Park as forensic officers combed the scene for potential evidence.

There were reports that forensic tents had been set up and a number of police vehicles were spotted in the area following the alleged incident in the early hours of Saturday.

It is not yet known the extent of the woman’s injuries.

A statement from Tayside Police Division said: “We are aware there has been widespread speculation on social media and we can now confirm we are carrying out enquiries into a report of a sexual assault which happened at Orchar Park in Dundee in the early hours of Saturday morning.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Tayside Division on 101 quoting 611/03.”
