Police investigating the death of a young man are to return to a nightclub where he was involved in a fight hours before he was found dead.

The body of Robert Fleming, 21, was discovered at his home in Lammermuir Road, Kilmarnock, at around 2pm on Sunday February 7.

Officers have established that he was involved in an altercation outside Baker’s nightclub in John Finnie Street in the East Ayrshire town at around 1am on the Sunday.

He then made his way home where he was later found dead, police believe.

Officers will be on John Finnie Street between the hours 11pm on Saturday and 2am on Sunday to speak to revellers and passing motorists in a bid find more information about the altercation.

Detective Chief Inspector Allan Burton said: “A young man has lost his life and it is of the utmost importance that we establish exactly what happened and get answers for Robert’s family.

“Officers have viewed the CCTV and it is critical we identify the people who were outside Baker’s during this incident.

“To do this we need to speak to anyone who was at this location last Saturday night to assess if they have information that could assist with our investigation.

“It is critical that we speak to absolutely everyone to ensure that we have the full picture of the circumstances, so if you are planning to be out again this weekend, please come and speak to us or any officer who will be in the area.

“Anyone with any information or knowledge is asked to contact Kilmarnock Police Office on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given anonymously.”
