Police name woman found dead at Edinburgh sheltered housing complex

An alleged murder victim found dead at a sheltered housing complex has been named by police.

The body of Rosina Sutherland, 74, was discovered on Sunday afternoon at her home in Edinburgh’s Longstone Park, sparking a major police investigation.

Kevin Rooney, 25, from Edinburgh, was charged with murder when he appeared in court yesterday, following the elderly woman’s death.

He made no plea or declaration when he appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

Lothian and Borders Police said detectives are investigating what happened and have urged anyone with information to get in touch.
