Police name man, 49, who died in glider accident

POLICE have named a glider pilot who died in a crash during take-off at the Scottish Gliding Centre at Portmoak airfield, Kinross, earlier this week.

Mark Dickson, from Troon in Ayrshire, was killed in the accident on Tuesday.

Emergency services attended the incident at the Scottish Gliding Centre.

They found the 49-year-old pilot in an overturned Nimbus 3 aircraft.

Mr Dickson died at the scene, while no one else was injured.

The plane was only a few feet from the ground when it crashed.

The investigation into the accident involves Tayside Police, the Air Accidents Investigation Branch and the Civil Aviation Authority.
