Police miss report target

LOTHIAN and Borders Police have missed their target for submitting reports of crimes to the procurator fiscal within 28 days, new figures have shown.

Officers submitted a total of 5328 reports to the fiscal’s office between last April and June, with 79 per cent of those submissions filed within the four-week mark. The force target is 80 per cent.

For Edinburgh, the force managed only 70 per cent of reports within the target time, a 15 per cent drop on last year.

The figure for East Lothian and Midlothian was 95 per cent, while 91 per cent was achieved in West Lothian.
