Police lifted 1500 motors

POLICE ordered more than 1500 vehicles to be confiscated in Lothian and Borders during the first eight months of the year, new figures have shown.

A total of 1555 vehicles were lifted because they had been abandoned, were causing an “obstruction/danger”, or because they had been involved in a traffic collision. Motorists caught without a driving licence, valid insurance or a tax face similar penalties.

Owners have to pay a £150 removal fee and £12 daily storage to get their cars back.
