Police investigate baby’s ‘unexplained’ death

A police investigation is underway following the sudden death of a two-month-old baby.

Officers were called to a house in Broadshade Crescent, Westhill, Aberdeenshire, at approximatley 8.40pm on Friday.

It is believed emergency services were called to the scene after the baby - named locally as Lucas McGonagle - suffered breathing difficulties.

A spokesman for Grampian Police said the baby boy’s death is being treated as “unexplained” and that enquiries are on-going.

A report would be sent to the prosecutor fiscal in due course.
