Police investigate abduction attempt

AN 11-year-old girl was approached by a stranger in a car, who tried to encourage her to get into the vehicle.

She ignored him and ran to a friend’s house unharmed, police said.

The incident happened in Thurso Road, Wick, on Sunday at 6:30pm.

Officers from Northern Constabulary have launched an appeal for information about the man. The driver is described as about 35, with short, dark brown hair and white stubble on his top lip.

Police are trying to contact a woman who they believe was walking in the area at the time.
