A MAN is believed to have indecently assaulted two women within minutes of each other in Edinburgh.

In the first attack, a 24-year-old woman was attacked in Easter Road just after midnight on Monday.

The man spoke inappropriately to her and when she tried to walk away he grabbed her and indecently assaulted her. The woman's screams forced the attacker to flee down Bothwell Street.

Another 24-year-old woman was walking in Easter Road 15 minutes later. She turned into Albert Street when she became aware of a man behind her.

The man then grabbed the woman from behind and made inappropriate comments to her and a struggle ensued.

She was punched in the head and received a cut above her left eye.

A police spokesman said: "Fortunately neither woman was seriously injured as a result of these attacks. Nevertheless, we are treating this extremely seriously."
