Police hunt cabbie after woman hurt

POLICE have launched a fresh appeal to find a taxi driver who dropped off a woman who was later found lying unconscious in the street.

The 58-year-old was found with a head injury in Warrender Park Crescent, Marchmont, at 1.50am on Thursday, May 26.

Officers now believe she may have been collected near Blackwell bookshop on South Bridge.

The woman remains in a serious condition in hospital.

She is described as white, between 5ft 6in and 5ft 8in with short dark hair. She was wearing a colourful dress with a blouse over the top, khaki/beige high-heel shoes, a gold necklace and wedding ring.

A police spokesman said: "There still do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the discovery of the woman. However, we still must speak to the taxi driver to establish what she had been doing before she sustained her injuries."
