Police hunt after woman, 84, has purse snatched in street

AN 84-YEAR-OLD woman had her purse snatched by a thief while she was out walking with her husband.

The theft took place at around 1pm on Wednesday, as the elderly victim was walking in the city's Piershill Place towards Willowbrae Road.

The suspect grabbed her purse from her hand before running off in the direction of Piershill Square East.

He is described as 5ft 5in to 5ft 9in tall, and wearing a black hat and brown jacket.

A police spokesman called for witnesses. He said: "We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who saw the suspect in the area either before or after the theft happened, to contact us immediately.

"Similarly, anyone who has any other information that can help our inquiries should also get in touch."
