Police hungry for feedback on campaign

A CAMPAIGN costing £75,000 which was aimed at boosting confidence amongst residents to report low-level crime to police in the Lothians is being assessed by a market research firm.

Corstorphine-based company Progressive was hired by police chiefs to gauge the success of their community awareness campaign launched last year.

As part of the campaign, adverts were posted on billboards, buses and taxis encouraging feedback from residents on problems in their area, while the force's website was updated with more news on police work.

Police chiefs hired a PR firm to help them develop the project, with focus groups set up to determine how the force could better enlist support from the public.

The market research firm was set to conduct 200 random face-face interviews in a bid to determine whether it had an "impact in terms of positively influencing attitudes towards the force".
