Police hold Q&A sessions with Edinburgh teenagers

POLICE in Edinburgh are holding question and answer sessions to try and get a clearer idea of what teenagers want from the service.

Lothian and Borders Police and 200 youngsters, aged 15 to 17, are taking part in the event at Broughton High School in the capital today.

John Davidson, who appeared in the 1989 documentary ‘John’s Not Mad,’ is guest speaker and will be talking about how having severe Tourette’s syndrome led to misunderstandings with the police in his teens.

Lothian and Borders will cease to exist after April when it merges into the new Police Service of Scotland.

Deputy Chief Constable Steve Allen said: “The best thing about this type of event is that it allows us to engage with our young people in a positive environment, and gives us the opportunity to listen to what they have to say.

“We will record their views and opinions of policing in the Lothian and Borders area and use them in shaping the future as we move forward to the Police Service of Scotland.”
