Police hail 6-year sentence for drug trafficker

Police Scotland has today welcomed the prison sentence handed to a man convicted for the supply of drugs within Edinburgh.

Between March and July 2013, Terry Scott was involved in the trafficking and distribution of diamorphine within the Drylaw area of the city.

After an intelligence-led operation by the Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism Unit, the 32-year-old was detained on August 27 last year in Lower Granton Road and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

He pled guilty to the drugs offence at Edinburgh High Court yesterday and was sentenced to six years and four months in prison.

Detective Superintendent David Gordon said: “Our enquiries into Terry Scott concluded that he was instrumental in the supply of diamorphine into the Drylaw community over a prolonged period of time.

“Acting on vital information from the public, we were able to detain Scott and the considerable evidence against him led to a guilty plea in court.

“The sentence handed to Terry Scott is testament to the commitment of both Police Scotland and the Crown Office Procurator Fiscal Service in removing those responsible for the distribution of drugs from our communities.”
