Police find drunk motorist making rude hand gestures

A MOTORIST spotted making obscene hand gestures and flashing his car’s headlamps was pulled over by police and arrested for drink-driving.

The 32-year-old man arrested in Musselburgh, East Lothian, at 11.20pm on Saturday was one of 19 motorists caught drunk behind the wheel in Lothian and Borders during the second week of the annual drink-driving crackdown.

Among the other drivers arrested were two men, aged 43 and 25, who both claimed responsibility for driving a car from Whitburn to Armadale in West Lothian.

Police found the Ford Fiesta parked on the pavement in Armadale at 2.50pm last Monday. Both men were allegedly more than twice the legal limit.

At 1.20am on Sunday, police found a Ford Focus parked with the engine running in Bathgate, West Lothian, and a 30-year-old male asleep in the driver’s seat.

The man was arrested and allegedly provided a breath sample of more than three times the legal limit.
