Police arrest drink-driver

THE festive crackdown on drink-driving saw a 37-year-old man arrested after a Christmas night out with work colleagues.

Officers stopped the man on Friday in South Groathill Avenue, at around 7.30am. The man was arrested and charged, and will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

Police are warning drivers to refrain from getting behind the wheel of their car if they have taken drink the night before.

Inspector David Milne, from the Road Policing Unit at Lothian and Borders Police said: "The driver was found to be twice over the limit."
