Police appeal after accident

POLICE have appealed for witnesses to a road accident in which a man was struck by a private hire taxi and left in a critical condition in hospital.

The 22-year-old man was on Old Dalkeith Road, near the junction with Ferniehill Drive, at around 12.10am on Sunday when he was hit.

An off-duty doctor, who was passing by, treated the man before paramedics arrived. The man was taken to ERI with serious injuries to his body.

A police spokesman said: “Anyone who remembers seeing the man before the collision should contact police immediately.”
