Police on alert after ‘gunshot’ heard next to airport

POLICE are investigating after reports that a gun was fired close to Aberdeen airport.

Officers from Grampian Police were called to Pitmedden Road in the Dyce area of Aberdeen at around 3pm after a concerned member of the public reported the incident.

The force said no-one was injured, but the road, which is close to Aberdeen airport, remained closed while the area was searched using police dogs. A police spokesman said: “Incidents of this nature are particularly rare in Grampian.

“Additional patrols are being carried out within the area to reassure members of the public. However, we would like to reassure the local community that this appears to be an isolated incident.”

Officers have announced that they want to speak to two men who were seen in the area at the time of the incident.

Any witnesses are also asked to contact the police.
