Plotting by greenfingers

Horticultural experts are to open a demonstration garden offering free advice for green-fingered enthusiasts.

The Community Allotment at the land-based Oatridge College in Broxburn, West Lothian, has been in the planning stages for more than a year.

An 11x32 metre garden, which includes a greenhouse, shed and fencing, will allow amateurs to learn about cultivation, soil and rotation.

The opening will be on June 20. The college’s Ann Burns said: “We’re keen to make sure that everyone gets the best from their plot.”
