Plenty to smile about as library reopens

AUTHOR Alexander McCall Smith was sharing a joke with St Peter’s Primary School pupils Ethan Davis, Jacob Dolan and Oliver Heiman, as he opened the newly refurbished Morningside Library yesterday.

The opening came ahead of schedule, with the library originally expected to be closed until next year. The revamp included providing modern interior design and shelving, soft seating, a cafe area, study space, community rooms, computer learning centre, and new and improved areas for children. The main work is an upgrade and restructuring of the library’s roof and bell tower.
