Play dirty for swamp soccer cup

THE ground at the Jack Kane Sports Centre was being churned up yesterday in preparation for the Capital's latest international sporting tournament.

Edinburgh's first Swamp Soccer World Cup will see teams battling it out on five-a-side pitches which resemble swamps, in a bid to claim the title of world champions.

To create the artificial swamp, organiser Stewart Miller, inset, and his team excavated swathes of earth and filled the churned remnants knee-deep with water. The land will be returned to its original state after the event. The annual two-day event will take place at Hunter's Hall Park tomorrow and Sunday.
