Play bus comes to town to share education campaign

A NEW educational bus promoting playing, talking and reading will visit the Capital later this week.

The PlayTalkRead bus will call at Sighthill Health Centre on Friday, Lidl at Leith’s Newkirkgate Centre on November 7 and Craigmillar Library the day after.

The bus is part of the Scottish Government’s Play, Talk, Read campaign, which focuses on the early years of children’s lives and will visit councils across Scotland.

Angela Constance, Minister for Children and Young People, said: “The early years are hugely important and impact on the rest of a child’s life. That’s why it’s essential we give children the best start in life and produce a nation of healthy, happy bairns.

“Playing, talking and reading to our children is a great way of enhancing their development and that’s exactly what we’re looking to achieve through the ongoing PlayTalkRead campaign.”
