Planning notices failure fears

THE process where residents are informed about planning applications in their area needs to be improved, a city councillor has said.

Green councillor Alison Johnstone said that there had been occasions that people who were supposed to be notified of planning applications had not been, despite the council having a duty to inform them.

She said that on the occasions that people had not been notified they had been "unable to take part in the planning process as deadlines have been missed" and neighbours had been unaware of an application before building work beginning.

Cllr Johnstone has lodged a motion for next week's full council meeting calling for a report on how to improve the neighbour notification process to ensure all neighbours entitled to notification receive it.
