Plan to build clubhouse at golf course

A CLUBHOUSE boasting holiday accommodation is set to be built at an East Lothian golf course.

The owners of The Renaissance Club at Archerfield, which opened in 2008, have put forward plans for the clubhouse, which would allow members to take short-stay holidays at the course.

The proposals have been passed for consideration to East Lothian Council, with a decision expected at a future meeting.

The club is co-owned by American businessman, Jerry Sarvadi, who moved from his Florida home to North Berwick to oversee its running.

Joe Passov of Golf Magazine, which compiles the top 100 courses – considered by many to be the most prestigious of course ranking lists – said previously that he expected the club to break into the world’s top 100 in 2013.
