Pierce O’Leary goes bust with £214,000 debt

FORMER Celtic star Pierce O’Leary has gone bankrupt with debts of more than £200,000.

The ex-Republic of Ireland international, who runs a cleaning business in Glasgow, was declared insolvent after failing to settle large bills.

O’Leary is the brother of former Leeds United manager David O’Leary and father of Kilmarnock player Ryan O’Leary.

Pierce O’Leary played for the Glasgow club between 1984 and 1988 and was capped seven times for the Republic.

The 53-year-old is thought to have applied for his own bankruptcy after running up debts of £214,378 and it was approved by the Accountant In Bankruptcy, Scotland’s insolvency service, last week.

A trustee, Bryce Findlay, of Glasgow insolvency practitioner Findlay Hamilton, has been appointed to take control of his assets and try to recover money owed to creditors.
